A Advice Dog post.
Your uncle, three pints in, tells you the secret to getting on the property ladder is to "just buy a house". He bought his in 1986 for roughly the price of a sofa. He's beaming. A colleague's advice for your overflowing inbox: mark all as read. "If it's important, they'll ring." He's been in the job eleven years and nobody has ever found him. Your mum's dating advice: "Just be yourself. But not like that." She means well. She's smiling. She has no idea either. You spill red wine on the landlord's carpet. Your friend cheerfully suggests a rug over it and moving out before the inspection. He gives this advice to everyone. He's moved eleven times. **Why it caught on:** a smiling puppy on a rainbow wheel, from around 2006, was the first advice animal and set the pattern Courage Wolf, Insanity Wolf and the rest followed. Everyone has had cheerful, confident, useless advice from someone grinning just like that.
