"But you don't look ill." Thank you. Looking this normal used up the last of today's energy, and now you'll need a sit down in the car park. A new doctor asks you to list your medication. You read it out. She googles two of them. You offer to spell them, because by now you can. A colleague tells you his cousin cured exactly what you have with yoga and turmeric. You thank him. That's nine people this year with the turmeric. None of them were doctors. On a good day you do a big supermarket shop and feel triumphant. Then you're too tired to cook any of it. Dinner is a yoghurt. The vegetables watch you from the fridge, disappointed. **Why it caught on:** a Siamese cat with a pale blue stare became the advice animal of people living with long-term illness, and the posts are mostly written by them. It gave them a way to laugh about the parts nobody else sees.
