*lose / UNLESS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT YOUR MOTHER
A Correction Guy post.
Your auntie writes "your welcome" in the family group chat. You type "*you're". You delete it. You type it again. Some hills are worth dying on, even at Christmas. At the pub quiz you correct the quizmaster: not Frankenstein, Frankenstein's monster. He gives you the point, and a look you'll remember for the rest of your life. Your date says she loves coffee. You point out that with four sugars and whipped cream, it's a milkshake. There is no second date. You were right, though. In the meeting your manager says "for all intensive purposes". Your hand rises on its own. You lower it. Afterwards you email him, privately, with a link. **Why it caught on:** a smiling 1950s-style advertising man with his palm raised, traced by Know Your Meme to a Flickr post in October 2011 and spread on Reddit from 2012. Correcting strangers is a hobby, and he gave it a uniform.
