At the café she photographs the same latte from nine angles and posts it with "no filter". The table is filtered. The window is filtered. You suspect the barista is filtered. In the village group: "does anyone know what time the chemist shuts?" The hours are on the chemist's door, the chemist's website, and the post directly below hers. Relationship status on Tuesday: "it's complicated". By Thursday it's "in a relationship" again, same man, with a photo of the flowers he bought to fix it. Nobody asked. Everybody knows. **Why it caught on:** a photo of a young woman rolling her eyes with her mouth open became the face of oversharing in the Facebook years. The habits outlived the site's heyday and moved to every app since, so everyone still scrolls past one daily, and some of us have written one.
